Healing of the Harlequin

Chloe entered the Medical Lan and froze when she saw Harley lying on one of the Medical Labs, her eyes widened and she hurried forward. After examining her, Chloe winced when she saw the initials V.Z. carved into her collarbone, she had an idea that this might be the same person who had been causing so much grief. She frowned, not even Harley deserved this she thought and stretched her hand forward letting her healing ability heal her. She buckled and sank into the chair that had been pulled up next to the bed.

Harley moaned as she suddenly felt warm. Her muscles relaxed. She felt her cuts mend her bruises healed. She opened her eyes slowly. Her vision was blurry. She saw a yellow blur in front of her. "huh?" she mumbled.

Chloe watched as Harley started to come too, "Ohh good you're awake.....how are you feeling?" She asked as she forced herself not to lose consciousness.

Harley looked around in confusion. "I... Ok I guess." She looked so confused.

Chloe bit her lip, "Do you remember what happened to you?" She asked with concern as she studied her.

Harley thought for a second. Then her eyes widened and filled with tears. She gave a hiccuping sob. She wrapped her arms around herself covering her body from view. "Oh God." She chocked out.

Chloe's eyes widened, not expecting that reaction and awkardly patted her shoudler, "Um are you ok?" She asked carefully.

Harley flinched slightly at the contact. Early in her career she had counseled rape victims. She had always thought she understood some of what they went through. Now she understood, back then she had no idea what she had been talking about. It was one of the reasons she had moved to criminal psychology later.


"How can anyone be ok after what that bastard did to me?!" Harley didn't mean to lash out but this girl, Harley still hadn't take the time to look at her clearly, was the only one she could take out her frustration on. Harley had seen it a lot back when she had been doing the counseling. The victims couldn't hurt their attackers so they would hurt the people helping them.

Chloe bit her lip, she knew the girl was just lashing out at the only person she could but it still bothered her, "Look I wish I could somehow take the pain away Harley...but the truth is I can't. I can only heal visible damage...I wish I could do more....did he rape you?" She asked, hoping for the negative but doubting that she would be that lucky if her reaction was any sign.

"No," Harley said angrily and sarcastically, "I'm naked because I like waking around strange areas in my birthday suit. Of course he raped me." She gave another sob as she continued to try to cover herself.

Chloe sighed out, letting her vent at her, "I am sorry about that Harley." She said quietly and she was but she wasn't sure what her presence was doing for Harley if anything.

Harley gave another sob. Even though she couldn't say it she was glad there was another woman with her right now. She just wished she had something to cover herself with besides her arms and hands. She felt so vulnerable and weak.

Chloe bit her lip, "Do you want me to get you a change of clothes?" She asked, not looking forward to entering the Joker's room but knowing that it might help her.

Harley swallowed slowly regaining some control of herself. "Just something to cover up with will be fine. A blanket or something." Harley looked down and away feeling ashamed.

Chloe nodded and got up looking around until she found a chest that contained blankets and sheets, she picked out a nice comforter and headed back to her bed. "Here Harley." She said quietly as she held it out to her, not initiating contact as she had a feeling that would not be the best idea.

Harley took the comforter and wrapped it around her front. She then stood and wrapped it around the rest of her before sitting down again on the bed. She swiped at her eyes whipping at the tears and smeared make-up. "Thank you." she whispered out.

Chloe nodded, "You're welcome." She said softly before she sat back down, just being there for her she wasn't sure if words were really needed unless Harley wanted to vent again.

Harley looked around for a sink. She found it and stood. She secured the comforter around her and walked to it. She washed her face. She looked at the mirror and scowled as she looked at her collar were the initials had been. She suddenly pulled back her fist and smashed the glass. Blood flowed from her knuckles.

Chloe winced as she did so, "Harley?" She asked quietly and with some concern as she saw the blood flow. She wanted to heal her but she wasn't exactly sure if that was something Harley would want.

Harley stared down at her bleeding hand. She then yanked out the glass shards that were imbedded in her skin making them bleed more.

Chloe flinched and then got up to stand by Harley, "Harley....please stop." She said quietly as she placed a hand over her hand and let the healing ability kick in. She winced at the pain she felt in her own hand before she pulled her hand away and bit her lip, Harley's hand was now free of any wounds.

Harley stared down at her healed hand. "I wanted it to hurt." She said numbly. "I feel dirty. Pain is distracting." She explained. "I want it to stop." She said.

Chloe winced and withdrew her hand, "Look Harley....pain isn't going to solve anything.....although yes it can be distracting. Do you want to take a shower and get clean? Would that help?" She asked quietly making a mental note not to have razors or any sharp objects in the bathroom if she did.

Harley looked up at her. "Only if I can stay in the Med Lab. Joker brought me here. This is were he'll come to get me. I don't want him worrying and looking for me."

Chloe nodded and bit her lip, "Uhm yeah sure." She said quietly as she tried not to worry too much about hearing that the Joker was still around.
