On my own

Pietro was wondering through the house trying to get a lay of the land so to speak. He wanted to know were everything was, especially things like the med lab. Pietro walked into the med lab and saw Chloe laying out on one of the beds. He zipped over to her side.


"Chloe?" Ha asked gently. He rested his hand on her shoulder not wanting to force her awake.

Chloe slowly came too feeling like she had been hit by a wrecking ball and then run over by a train, her eyes flicked over to Pietro. She tried to get up but couldn't find the strength to even do that much, "Pietro.....um...when did you get here?" She asked softly and weakly.

"Just a few seconds ago." He placed his hand on her forehead to keep her down from trying to get up. "What happened to you?" He asked with consern.

Chloe bit her lip, "I...healed two people...it kinda knocked me out for a bit...I should be fine in a few." She said as she smiled at him.

Pietro sighed with relief that it wasn't more serious. He pulled up a chair and sat next to her as she laid on the bed.


"I wish you wouldn't strain yourself but I know I can't ask you to not heal people. It's who you are and I do love that about you but I wish it didn't hurt you like this."

Chloe smiled at his concern, "Believe me I wish for that too sometimes, but thank you for understanding my reasons." She said quietly and sincerely. She felt like cheering when he said he loved her willingness to heal people, "I'm sorry you had to come in when I was like this." She said apologetically.

Pietro looked at her tenderly. He brushed her hair behind her ear. He kissed her lips gently. "I'm glade I did. I need to know these things if were going to be together." He held her face rubbing her check with his thumb.

She slowly reached up and touched his face with the back of her hand, "Then I'm grateful you came in when you did." She said as her heart pounded. He was being so gentle with her....she had to be the luckiest girl in the world to have a boyfriend who was this sweet with her.

Pietro smiled at her again. He stood up and sat on the med bed. He pulled her into his lap. He kissed her at the corner of her eye. He held her to him as he let her rest against his body.

Chloe gave a little squeak when he got on the bed and then on his lap, she smiled though and curled up against him. She was content to just rest her head against his chest and relax, "So how are you?" She asked quietly after a moment, it was a comfortable silence and she only broke it because she was curious.

"I'm fine." He continued stroking her hair. "How long will it take for you to be back to normal after that." He nodded indicating her tiredness of healing people.

Chloe bit her lip, "Well after I get some food and some sleep I should be as right as rain." She said with a small smile.

Pietro smiled and stood up and laid her back down. "What would you like to eat? I'll run down and get you whatever you want and be right back." He smiled. "Then you can rest." He brushed her hair back.

She bit her lip, "Honestly whatever you make I'll be more then happy to eat, um but I might need a lot cause I burned a lot of calories." She said with an embarrassed laugh.

Pietro smirked at her. "A big eater huh? Well that's something I can get behind." He kissed her nose and pulled away. He speed up to the dinning room and a few minutes latter was down again with a number of sandwiches and drinks. "Here you are my dear." He presented the food to her.

She laughed at the many choices he presented to her, 'Well...I hope you don't mind me wolfing all of this down." She said as her stomach released a loud growl..much to her embarressment. She took a sandwich and started to eat it, before she knew it she had eaten more food then she had been planning on. She blushed, "Oh wow....I am so sorry." She said as she took a sip of a drink. She knew she must have looked like a pig but at least now she was starting to feel better.

Pietro laughed as she ate. "You have nothing to be sorry for. You should see how much I eat when I'm running low on energy. I make you look positively dainty."

She giggled, "I'd have to see it to believe it." She said once the giggles had subsided, she sank back feeling the warm pleasant feeling of being full fill her. "Well that was amazing, your cooking skills are outstanding." She said honestly as she smiled at him.

Pietro smiled. He got back into bed with her pulling her onto his lap again. "You should see me when I give myself more then a minute to work."

Chloe smiled, "Mmm maybe we can make something some time." She said as she thought about it, she honestly wanted to see what he was like in the kitchen. She leaned against him and smiled, his comforting embrace made her feel safe...funny how that worked.

Pietro smiled and petted her hair down. "We can definitely do that. But after you feel better." He grinned and kissed the top of her head.

Chloe pouted but then smiled, "I'll hold you to that." She said as she leaned her head on his chest, "So besides cooking, what else are you good at?" She asked as she tilted her head to look up at him.

Pietro smirked. He knew she wasn't talking about sex and dancing. He smiled. "Well, lets see... I'm a pretty good fighter, I'm a good student, you know reading, writing, arithmetic, I'm pretty good at all those. I can do a bit of everything you know. With my speed I go through things fast so I'm kind of a jack of all trades type."

Chloe smiled thoughtfully, "I've always wished I could be like that but being a hacker and healer are kinda my only jobs. I enjoy doing them though so I can't complain...if you didn't have your powers what would you do?" She asked with sudden interest as she changed the subject.

Pietro sighed. "I really have no clue. As a kid when most kids would have been thinking things like, 'I want to be a scientist, or NASCAR driver,' or all other kind of things, my father did an experiment on me and my twin that gave us our powers at a very young age. Most mutants get their powers when they hit puberty." He explained. "My father was very mutant rights oriented. He survived the Holocaust you see. And because he gave us our powers so early I can't even wonder what my life would be like without them. I don't know it I could survive they've become so integrated with me."
